Technical Information
Companies utilize canopies for a variety of reasons including customer attraction, inventory and equipment protection, employee comfort, and/or work productivity. Properly constructed shade canopies virtually eliminate the likelihood of significant hail damage. While many companies utilize a number of standard designs for specific uses, the designs vary in the number of support columns employed, the type and depth of footings that may be required, the utilization and coordination of cable and steel members, etc.

Design Considerations
Canopies are used to provide weather protection for workers, customers, and/or property. The intended use will affect the length, width, and entry height of the structure. Weather conditions and aesthetics can affect the "pitch" of the structure, i.e. the degree of slope between the highest point and the maximum coverage area.
Location affects general requirements such as applicable construction code requirements, cost and time necessary to receive building permit, likely weather conditions (sun, rain, snow, hail, and wind), as well as specific site conditions (zoning, overhead obstructions, soil conditions, the presence or lack there of underground pipes/utilities, and working conditions.)
